During the school holidays, we welcomed a group of Year 12 and 13 students from schools across Auckland for a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day life of a project manager.
Led by our graduate team, the students explored what project management looks like in practice, from working with clients and contractors, to managing risks, prioritising health and safety, and seeing how decisions made in the office come to life on site.
They also heard from our graduates about the different paths they took into the industry, showing students that there isn’t one defined route to a career in project management. Whether through engineering, trades or other disciplines, the industry benefits from a diverse mix of skills, experiences and perspectives.
Stepping onto a live project site brought the day to life, giving students the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world application and see how projects take shape.
