Frequency provided Project Management and Engineer to the Contract services for Tāwhaki Nui-a-Hema, a two-storey, six-classroom teaching block that strengthens learning at Motueka High School while connecting students to local history and culture.
Inspired by the legend of Tāwhaki, the building features tendril-like balustrades, vertical cladding suggesting upward movement, and a timber structure reflecting the original forests. A dedicated horticulture space lets students plant, harvest, and prepare produce on site, supporting hands-on learning. Completed in November 2024, Tāwhaki Nui-a-Hema showcases how collaboration with Wakatū, the school, and the community can deliver a learning environment that is both functional and meaningful.
