Frequency provided project management services for the delivery of Te Whare Hui Ora – the Open Country Community Stadium in Matamata, overseeing both technical and contractual aspects from design coordination through to construction and commissioning. The project was unique in its strong community-driven approach, with fundraising led by the Matamata Futures Trust and support from Sport Waikato, ensuring the stadium would truly belong to the people who made it possible.
The facility is now fully operational, offering Matamata College, local sports clubs, and the wider community a versatile space for sporting, cultural, and recreational activities. This achievement was made possible through a remarkable team effort, including Matamata-Piako District Council, Ministry of Education New Zealand, Matamata Futures Trust, Sport Waikato, Foster Group Ltd, J Swap Contractors, BOON, BCD Group Limited, Innerscape, and Matamata College.
Open Country Stadium stands as a lasting example of collaborative delivery, where community, clients, and consultants came together to create a facility that will serve Matamata for years to come.
